Blog/Vacation Rental Cleaning/Colors That Help Cleaning Companies Avoid Stains

Stains are often the bane of any cleaning company who has to clean them out of bedsheets and couches. There are tons of stain-removing solutions available out there, from the age-old home remedies from past generations passed down to you by your grandmother and mother, the chemical solutions from big companies, to the “life hacks” shown on various social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.

Some of them may work and some are a waste of time and effort, but we can all agree that stains, while a pain to deal with, will always be part of the life of a cleaning company.

However, there is a way to handle stains, albeit a lazy one. If the bedsheets and couches you have are of a certain color, it may be easier to hide the stains until you figure out the best way to get them out without damaging the color or the material itself.

Here are some colors that can help your cleaning company cover up these pesky stains.

Blue

The color blue is a very refreshing color. It can also calm you down, not only because of the color itself but also because the deeper blues can help you mask stains. Having deep blue colored bed sheets and couches can help you hide most stains and even dirt. The best part is blue fits in well with most décor.

Brown

Surprisingly, brown bed sheets and couches are widely used, despite their seemingly boring color. Using brown for your bed sheets and especially your couch may be the best choice in hiding any type of stain. This earthy hue blends well with most color palettes that you may have in your bedroom and living room.

Another great thing about brown bed sheets is that dust is almost invisible to it. Do not opt for the lighter tones of brown, like khaki, camel, or tan, as these will definitely show the stains. Instead go for the richer, darker hues of brown like chocolate, umber, and hickory.

Gray

Gray is a very elegant color that can be used in the bedroom and in the living room. Because it is a neutral color, gray bed sheets and couches work with almost all kinds of color combinations you may have in both the living room and bedroom. Dust particles blend very well with this color and so do stains.

You might think that gray won’t work because its lighter shades readily show different kinds of stains, however, you would be surprised how well one if its darker shades can mask stains. Charcoal gray, owing to it being dark like navy blue or black, can make your most stains virtually indistinguishable to other people.

Green

Green is the color of nature, tranquility, money, and luck! And as luck would have it, using the darker shades of green like pine, seaweed, and juniper for your bed sheet is very good as it masks stains very well. Dark olive and moss-colored couches will be able to hide stains well, too. Unfortunately, no matter how much luck your cleaning service has, various kinds of stains will show up on green’s lighter side of the palette.

Red

The deeper hues of red, like wine, mahogany, maroon, and garnet to name a few, are actually excellent in masking stains. This vibrant color can brighten up any bedroom, aside from its ability to hide most stains. Having a wine-colored couch will not only give your living room a pop of color but will help mask stains from any mishaps that may happen throughout the day. This masking will save your cleaning company a considerable amount of stress.

Designs & Patterns

Having patterns and designs on your bed sheets or on your couch is another way to hide stains however it can get tricky. You have to make sure that the background color of these patterns or designs is dark. You also have to choose what kind of patterns you will be using. The more geometrical patterns are better at masking stains, especially those that have bigger color blocks that are dark. Darker plaids and tartans may do the trick. Busy, darker colored designs may also help in covering up the stains and dust.

You may be asking yourselves, what about the color black? Black may help with darker stains on bed sheets and couches however other lighter stains and dust show up quite plainly on it thus not making it a good color to hide it. Aside from this, black absorbs heat, making it quite hot to have as couches or bedsheets.

Please note that the stains mentioned here are specifically the darker colored stains. Unfortunately, no color can really hide the lighter colored stains like toothpaste spattering on your shirt, not even the color white.
